Trying to sell my 1964 BSA 650cc Lightning - I posted this last month on eBay and the buyer was unable to come up with the cash for personal reasons, so now I am giving Craigslist a try. I purchased this Lightning at a swap in the fall of 2009. Ridden only on the weekends around Pleasant Valley/Millbrook, I am looking to sell as I unable to bring the bike down to my apartment in NYC. Price is negotiable, if you like what you see, make me an offer.
The motor runs strong and the transmission shifts smoothly. Excellent oil pressure. I do not know the true mileage; there is a new speedometer & tach mounted on the handlebar, although neither are currently connected. A battery eliminator was added to make kickstarting easier, although I did retain a battery for the head and tail lamps. Please note that there are no turn signals. No rear shocks, and the front fork tubes are actually off a shovelhead. Brand new tires from J&P cycles.
There is no title, but I do have a transferable registration and will provide a bill of sale that you can have notarized. Please note that the frame & motor #s do not match, and that the registration lists the frame # per instructions from the local DMV. The bike passed NYS inspection, and cost me 290 to insure for a year. Also, please keep in mind that the bike is nearly 50 years old and comes with no type of warranty.
Please email for additional photos as well a YouTube video of the bike starting (taken on 12/24). I will gladly talk to anyone on the phone to answer questions or to arrange a time for you to view the bike.
