Now this was a bike. I bought this beast back in 1998 and sold it in 2008. I put a few thousand miles on this motorcycle and it served me well. It never had more than 14,000 miles though. I stored it in my living room and basement and it moved around with me a number of times. I have no idea why I bought it in the first place, but when someone gets the urge to buy a bike, there's nothing that can stop them.

I picked this bad boy up for $4500 from Dutchess Recreational Vehicles in Poughkeepsie, NY. I saw it and I had to have it. All I remember was craving that fat back tire. It was huge and it meant speed. The only problem with this motorcycle was the weight. I think it came in at 550 pounds, which was a lot for a sport bike. I remember my friend buying a GSXR 1000 some years later and he told me that his was like half the weight. That made mine seem old. It was fast though. This bike was very fast and it told me to to terrible things. I had trouble keeping the speed down while on this bike.

Eventually, I sold this motorcycle for $800 because I just wanted to get rid of it. I moved to a new house in Connecticut and I hadn't ridden the bike in a while. I wasn't going to either. When I did take it out for a ride, one of the floats in one of the carburetors got stuck and it leaked fuel all over my garage floor. I turned the gas off and posted an ad for the bike online. Within a day or two, some guy came over and bought it. It was nice to see it leave because I had no use for it. I did love it while I loved it though. That's for sure.

Sounds like you loved it. You should probably get another one.

I wouldn't get another street bike like this. It was too much and limited to the road. If anything, I would pick up a dual purpose enduro. I'm diggin' the Kawasaki KLR 650 in black. Those bikes are looking good. I'd like to make a right out of my driveway and ride up on the logging roads.
